Sexually acquired HIV infections on the rise in Catalonia, Spain
Resum
Reporting of AIDS cases has been mandatory in Spain since 1987, but only eight out of the seventeen Spanish autonomous communities have HIV reporting systems [1]. In Catalonia, voluntary reporting of newly diagnosed HIV infections in adolescents and adults was implemented on January 2001 as part of the Catalan Integrated HIV/STI Surveillance System (Sistema Integrat de Vigilància Epidemiològica del SIDA/VIH/ITS de Catalunya, SIVES), which also includes data collection on behaviour, diagnosis and treatment monitoring [2-4]. This paper describes the increase in sexually transmitted HIV infections, using regional surveillance data from SIVES. (Resumen extraído del artículo)Fitxa bibliogràfica
