The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health launches innovative media campaign to combat the County’s rising rates of the sexually transmitted diseases, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. The I Know public education campaign, partially funded by the County’s Board of Supervisors, repeatedly and strongly urge young, sexually-active women of color to get tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea regularly. The campaign, first launched in July 2007, incorporates posters, postcards, billboards, buses, and commercials, but also non-traditional guerilla marketing techniques like mirror stickers in night clubs, lip balm, condom keychains and condom packets to reach the intended audiences.
